Hello everyone! My name is Takashi Ohara and I’m from Japan. I’m currently studying in culinary management at George Brown College and this’s my first blog in my life yeah!

Here is my recent picture was taken at my previous work place. I’m on the left of the picture and the beautiful women on the right are my ex-colleagues.
I’ve worked in different kinds of jobs in Japan like culinary industry, real estate business or event management then I realized that working in a kitchen is what I love the most. I know this industry is not easy because it’s always stressful and there’re less days off than other jobs but I’m also excited to work somehow. That’s the reason why I want to be a chef.
I have working experience in a kitchen: I worked in a Chinese and Indian restaurant in Japan and in a cafe restaurant in Canada. Sadly, I never worked at a Japanese restaurant although I’m Japanese, but I wish I’d learn it in the future.
My personal philosophy of cooking is simple,
“food makes people happy”
Food is an essential part of our lives. It is necessary to nourish our bodies, live healthy, and give us energy. Some people also eat luxury meals on special days. In my case, I usually eat sushi when it’s a special day such as a meeting my family or succeeding something. Therefore, I believe that food can give us some pleasure and this will be my priority as a cook.
I’d like to share my information throughout this blog and learn other kinds of cuisines. So, I wish I could make a communicate with other students who also want to become chefs and exchange information with them. In addition, since I’m not a native English speaker, I need to improve my writing skills too!
My favourite culinary quote comes from Jamie Oliver who says
“What I’ve enjoyed most, though, is meeting people who have a real interest in food and sharing ideas with them. Good food is a global thing and I find that there is always something new and amazing to learn – I love it!”
Inspiring Quote, 2020
As I wrote before, I love to learn new cuisines. For example, I’m learning new curry recipes with my Indian roommate. This sentence is inspiring for me and feel Jamie Oliver and I share the same values. That’s the reason why I chose it.
Here is my recent cooking with my classmate. We made Thai Curry and the tase was delicious!!

Finally, I’d like to introduce my favourite culinary blog named “Kitchen Princess Bamboo”. This blog shows many Japanese meal recipes and the all ingredients are available in Canada. Moreover, I’m not very familiar with Japanese cuisine and I admit I feel a little uncomfortable when someone asks specific questions about it. Hence, it’s a good opportunity to practice these meals from scratch.
This is my introduction and I wish I could share more information next time!
